Leonard Medica Gregorič
Leonard Medica Gregorič (1997) started studying classical guitar at the age of 7. In 2016 he concluded his classical guitar studies with prof. Tanja Brecelj Vatovec at the high school for music in Koper, Slovenia. Currently, he’s studying jazz guitar at the “G. Tartini” Conservatory in Trieste, Italy with Riccardo Chiarion, Giovanni Maier, Klaus Gesing, Matteo Alfonso. He is mainly active in the fields of improvised, contemporary and jazz music. In 2018 he participated at the Abeceda workshop in Ljubljana (led by Dré Hočevar) and the Doek workshop in Amsterdam (led by Wilbert de Joode, Michael Moore, Kaja Draksler, Eric Boeren, Wolter Weibos, Oscar Jan Hoogland, Jasper Stadhouders), where he also performed. He was also selected to take part in the Cph experimental music camp at the RMC in Copenhagen (led by Michael Pisaro, James Fei, Søren Kjærgaard). In 2019 he participated in the Jyderup Accordion Traef workshop (led by Kresten Osgood, Marcus Rojas, Axel Dörner, Lee Ranaldo, Chris Cuttler, LaDonna Smith, Jack Wright). He was also part of the Mladi Raziskovalci II (Young Researchers) project, led by Dré Hočevar. He also curated the Abeceda workshop in Ljubljana He performed on festivals such as Jazz Festival Ljubljana, Jazz Cerkno, Multiversal North in Copenhagen, Hamburg and Berlin; Brda Contemporary Music Festival in Šmartno, Slovenia; Jazz na Jazu and All That Jazz festivals in Malinska, Croatia; ZEZ Festival in Zagreb, Velvet Festival in Punat. He also released a solo guitar mini-album, “doing nothing is better than doing bad things”, as well as a duo album “volim te, pazi se, fališ mi” under pazi oštar pas, a duo with Andro Manzoni.
